President Message
On behalf of Merchant Navy Officers’ Parents Welfare Society and larger community of Merchant Navy associates, I would like to welcome you all. It is indeed a matter of delight and pride to see how MNOPWS is growing steadily since its inception. I am glad to witness that our vision is getting embodied with firm and desired results over the time. The journey we began is about more than, what we have achieved. We need to make sure that all of our members and community is fully connected. The young and coming generation may take the advantage of this wonderful organization, because your good ideas might inspire others. We need to foster change within to help each other. If you wish to be a beacon to the society let’s start by being so to one another and help each other with greater understanding.
Our society observed that from Himachal Pradesh there are more than 5000 seafarers working in various national and international companies and there were no medical checkup facilities for seafarers available nearby Palampur. We took up the matter with Ministry of shipping and Director General of Shipping, India and after making a lot of correspondences during last three years, D.G. Shipping finally approved Bhardwaj Multi Speciality Hospital Arla, Palampur as medical examination hospital for all seafarers, which has started functioning from December 2023.
Similarly to establish and increase co-operation among the members and their wards, the society has created different WhatsApp groups i.e. Merchant Navy Officers Club and MNOPWS, where everyone has the opportunity to interact with each other and all issues of general interest are resolved promptly as and when brought into the notice of the executive of the society. MNOPWS from its very inception is regularly organizing programs of public interest and social welfare and we are proud of our accomplishments.

I am deeply grateful to all my predecessors
who have steered MNOPWS to this height. It is my fervent hope that in future more young members will come forward to take this responsibility of continuing which we have started. I personally believe that every page of this magazine reflects the spirit and dreams of MNOPWSians and I am looking forward for a fantastic future of “OCEANOBREEZE”. I am also very grateful for the dedication and Co- opration of all the members, their families and wards.
